Breaking Bad

IMDB

Quick Dots

  • Must See, if you dare
  • Not for kids, probably not even for some delicate adults
  • Violence, drugs, guns, language..
  • Well written, acted and directed

It is like a bitter pill that is good for you after you get over the gag reflex. If you can get past the first 3 or 4 episodes of season 1 you are hooked! Write off several hours of you life and you will be rewarded with shock, intrigue, excitement, disgust, and a reluctant sense of adventure.

I will not give away any of the main plot details, but a quick starting point might be worth while.

Season 1 begins with Walter White (Bryan Cranston) a High school chemistry teacher being diagnosed with lung cancer. He has a son and a baby on the way. In order to provide for his family in his absence or to cover the medical bills, he decides to use his chemistry knowledge to cook meth with his former student Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul).

What happens next and how is the rest of the series. Walter and Jesse seem to be in and out trouble quite often. Seeing Walter use his brain and chemistry knowledge to get out of trouble is what keeps you glued to the television set. Remember this not a 'Rise to Riches' type of tale, but a some what realistic 'what might happen' tale.

By the end of the first season you will forget that Walter and Jesse are really actors playing a part and see them as the characters themselves. The series is cast perfectly for every character that you will see in the first 4 seasons. Most series I have seen become stale after the first one or two seasons. The storytellers of Breaking Bad have avoided this pitfall successfully for 4 seasons. All seasons thus far have been gripping, and filled with interesting new characters.

Start at the beginning... watch.... enjoy.
